September 20, 2023--Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--A 6.4 magnitude earthquake rocked New Zealand's South Island about 45 kilometers (km) north of Geraldine at a depth of 10 km on Wednesday morning (9:00 am) local time.

The epicenter of the earthquake was near Christchurch, which was devastated by an earthquake in 2011. At this stage there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
