Researched by Industrial Info Resources India (Delhi, India)-- India's state-run power company, NTPC Limited (BSE:532555) (New Delhi) is scouting for a contractor to construct Cooling Towers at Nabinagar Power Generating Company Limited's (NPGCL) 1,980-megawatt (MW) Nabinagar super-thermal power project in Bihar. The power major, on behalf of NPGCL, has floated a global tender for this purpose. NPGCL is a joint venture of NTPC and Bihar State Electricity Board (Patna, Bihar). NTPC intends to finance the package through external commercial borrowings and from its own resources.
According to NTPC, the scope for the contract will involve design, engineering, manufacture, inspection, packing, transportation to site, testing and commissioning including successful completion of trial operation and performance-guarantee testing of six splash fill type cooling towers of 36,000 cubic-meter per hour capacity each and one tower of 3,000 cubic-meter per hour capacity, along with the supply of manually operated butterfly valves, pipes, hot water distribution systems, fills and drift eliminator. The contractor will also be responsible for execution of all associated civil, structural, electrical and control and instrumentation work.
As per the pre-conditions laid down by NTPC for this contract, to qualify for this package, a bidder should have designed, constructed and commissioned at least one splash type Induced, Forced or Natural Draught Cooling Towers in Reinforced Cement Concrete (RCC) Construction with a capacity not less than 13,000 cubic meter per hour. The tower should have been in successful operation for at least one year prior to the date of Techno-Commercial bid opening for the offered package.
In terms of financial standards, the average annual turnover of the bidder in the preceding three financial years should not be less than $7.8 million, and net worth should not be less than 25% of the paid-up share capital. The bid documents will be available for sale until August 5, 2013. The last date of submission of bids for this package is August 29, 2013.
The 1,980-MW, supercritical technology-based thermal power project is being developed at Majhiyan village, in the Aurangabad district of Bihar.
