Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Delhi, India)--India's state-run power company NTPC Limited (BSE:532555) (New Delhi) is scouting for a vendor for supply of instrumentation cables to Nabinagar Power Generating Company Limited's (NPGCL) 1,980-megawatt (MW) Nabinagar Super Thermal Power Project in Bihar. The power major, on behalf of NPGCL, has floated a global tender for this purpose. NPGCL is a joint venture of NTPC and the Bihar State Electricity Board (Patna, Bihar). NTPC intends to finance the package through external commercial borrowings and from its own resources.
According to NTPC, the scope of the contract would involve the design, engineering, manufacture, testing, inspection, supply and transportation of various types of instrumentation cables to the project site on an "as delivered at site" basis. The cables will have an aggregate length of 649 kilometers.
As per the pre-conditions laid down by NTPC to qualify for this package, a bidder should have manufactured and supplied at least 250 kilometers of 225-volt or higher, PVC-insulated, multi pair, twisted, shielded, and flame-retardant low-smoke (FRLS) cable, with insulation thickness ranging from 0.25 to 0.35 millimeters, along with stranded conductors in a single contract prior to the date of techno-commercial bid opening.
Further, in terms of financial standards, the average annual turnover of the bidder in the preceding three financial years should not be less than $222,000, with a net worth not less than 25% of the paid-up share capital. The bid documents for the package will be available for sale until May 9, 2013. The last date of submission of bids for this package is May 31, 2013. The power project is entitled to "deemed export benefits" on the purchase of goods and equipment, under the mega-power policy of the government of India.
The 1,980-MW, supercritical, technology-based thermal power project would be developed on 1,146 hectares of land in Majhiyan village, in the Aurangabad district of Bihar.
