PT Geo Dipa Energi Sets Ambitious 1,020-MW Geothermal Development Target in Indonesia, an Industrial Info Market Brief

The Indonesian government remains committed to increase renewable energy fuel power generation of 23% by 2025, and it is calling all parties, stakeholders, and both public and private business entities to cooperate in achieving this target.
One of the companies who made a commitment is state-owned PT Geo Dipa Energi (Persero), which aims to achieve the 1,020 megawatts (MW) of installed geothermal power generation capacity by 2035. The company currently operates two geothermal power plants namely, the Dieng 1 and Patuha 1 geothermal power plants; each has a 55-MW capacity. PT Geo Dipa is completing the construction of its additional 10- MW Dieng-1 Small Scale geothermal plant, which is expected to operate commercially by 2021. Furthermore, the Dieng-2 and Patuha-2 geothermal might commercially operate by 2023.
PT Geo Dipa plans to develop two additional 55-MW geothermal plants, named Dieng-3 l and Patuha-3, that are targeted to operate in 2025.
In a period of 10 years (2025-2035), PT Geo Dipa plans to expand its geothermal capacity to 780 MW, which is obtained from the planned 20-MW Candradimuka geothermal, which is also expected to be online by 2025.
By 2030, PT Geo Dipa aims to install Dieng-4 to Dieng-8 geothermal plants, with combined capacity of 270 MW, and Patuha-4 to Patuha-8 geothermal, with 290 MW combined capacity, that may operate by 2032.
