Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The 13.8-megawatt (MW) Sable Wind power project in Nova Scotia began commercial operations late last month, following its completion by the Nova Scotia Power and the Municipality of the District of Guysborough.
The windfarm utilizes six Enercon turbines, and it will provide enough energy to power more than 10,000 Nova Scotian homes annually. The project has a total investment value of $31.7 million, of which the Municipality of Guysborough is the majority owner (51%).
Construction of the windfarm was completed by Enercon GmbH (Aurich, Germany). The project will supply electricity to Nova Scotia Power, which is owned by Emera Incorporated (TSX:EMA) (Halifax, Nova Scotia).
