SCG Pipeline Incorporated Nears Construction Phase of a New Natural Gas Pipeline

SCG expects to select the construction contractor within the next week and begin construction on March 3, 2003 with an in-service date of June 30th 2003

Released Thursday, February 13, 2003

Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). In September of 2002, SCG Pipeline Incorporated (Columbia South Carolina) was issued a certificate of public convenience and necessity authorizing it to construct a new natural gas pipeline. The new 20" diameter pipeline will originate in Port Wentworth Georgia and follow an 18.4-mile route to Jasper County South Carolina. The pipeline will interconnect with Southern Natural Gas and Southern LNG's Elba Island LNG import terminal and will have a capacity of 190 mmscfd. SCG expects to select the construction contractor within the next week and begin construction on March 3, 2003 with an in-service date of June 30th 2003. Part of the $ 33.4 million price tag includes buying 190 mmscfd of capacity on Southern Natural Gas Company's twin 30' diameter pipelines caring gas from Elba Island.

SCG Pipeline Incorporated is a wholly owned subsidiary of SCANA Corporation (NYSE:SCG) (Columbia South Carolina). SCANA Corporation is an $8 billion Fortune 500 energy holding company serving over half a million electric customers in South Carolina and over a million natural gas customers in South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia.

Industrialinfo.com has been tracking the progress of this new pipeline since November of 2001.
