Solar Power Equipment Manufacturing Plant Planned for Tennessee

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Newly formed Confluence Solar Incorporated (Hazelwood, Missouri) is currently planning to construct a $200 million solar power equipment manufacturing plant in Clinton, Tennessee.

Plans are to invest an initial $200 million to build a 200,000-square-foot building on a 25-acre site that produces mono-crystal silicon ingots for use in solar photovoltaic products. The facility will also house the company's warehousing and distribution operations. Another $200 million will be invested for a second phase after the plant is fully operational. A design-build firm is expected to be selected within the next few months. Construction is anticipated to begin in the late summer/early fall of 2010. Overall completion is slated for the summer of 2011. Approximately 250 new jobs will be created.

The company had also considered Michigan as a location for the new plant before settling on Tennessee.
