Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Privately held Green Valley Bio-fuels LLC (Warrenville, South Carolina) is set to begin biodiesel production at the company's plant in Warrenville, South Carolina, by the end of this month.
Construction began on the $9 million facility in October 2009 and was stopped in January 2010, when the $1 per gallon blending tax credit ended on the first day of the year. Last month, the U.S. Congress chose to reinstate the credit through the Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance Reauthorization, and Job Creation Act of 2010. This reinstatement prompted Green Valley Bio-fuels to restart construction.
The production campus is on Main Street in Warrenville, South Carolina, in Aiken County, approximately 12 miles northeast of Augusta, Georgia. The plant has the capacity to produce up to 35 million gallons of biodiesel annually from chicken fat and other rendered material. The plant will have about 15 employees.
Currently, there are five operational biodiesel production plants in South Carolina, and another is being planned.
