Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources Incorporated; Houston, Texas). Make that the fast track. Three months ahead of schedule, the $100 million Clarksville, Tennessee, fiberglass manufacturing plant construction nears completion.

Stephen Robbins, superintendent of MW/MB, said the company looks toward an October opening date for the new plant, which will produce raw, base fiberglass that goes into manufacturing roofing shingles MW/MB LLC was established in Montgomery County, Tennessee, by a partnership of Tamko Roofing Products Incorporated, a privately owned company out of Joplin, Missouri, and IKO Industries Limited, a privately held corporation based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

O'Neal Contractors a division of O'Neal Incorporated, Greenville, South Carolina is serving as the General Contractor. PPG Industries, Lexington, North Carolina, provided the engineering design and process technology for the new fiberglass manufacturing facility. Under a long-term service agreement, PPG will also provide bushings, technical services, technology updates and some employee training.

In anticipation of an October opening, MW/MB LLC began to accept applications for an electronics technician and maintenance personnel, among other positions, that will need to be filled. The company expects to hire 85 to 100 people initially, with an annual payroll of $3.8 million. The facility will have a manufacturing capacity of 150 million pounds per year. MW/MB plans to fire up its glass melting furnace for the first time in late September, with production set to start October 12, 2005. Construction on the building is three months ahead of schedule.
