A joint venture company formed between agricultural company The Andersons (NASDAQ:ANDE) (Maumee, Ohio) and the countrys fifth largest petroleum refiner, Marathon Oil Corporation (NYSE:MRO) (Houston, Texas), named The Andersons Marathon Ethanol, LLC has started construction on a new fuel ethanol plant that will be located in Greenville, Ohio.
ICM, Incorporated (Colwich, Kansas) has been selected as the design-build firm for the project and the selection of contractors and equipment purchases are underway for the estimated $154 million project.
Construction is expected to take sixteen months to complete and the target date for completion is February of 2008.
The project also marks the sixth fuel ethanol plant that is currently under construction in Ohio. Other projects underway in the state include ASAAlliances Biofuels in Bloomingburg (100MM gal/yr); Bionol in Lake Providence (40MM gal/yr); Coschocton Ethanol in Coschocton (80MM gal/yr); Greater Ohio Ethanol in Lima (50MM gal/yr), and Harrison Ethanol in Cadiz (20MM gal/yr)
