Two Japanese Power Giants Team with Swiss Wind Power Developer to Construct 48MW Polish Windfarm

Two giant Japanese power developers, Electric Power Development Company, a subsidiary of J-Power (Tokyo, Japan), and Mitsui & Company Deutschland GmbH Sp. z.o.o. (Warszawa, Poland) a division of Mitsui & Company Limited (OTC:MITSF) (Tokyo, Japan) are participating in a $95 million, 48-megawatt (MW) Polish windfarm. The Japanese firms each have a 45% interest in the 48 MW Zajaczkowo Windfarm and are joining WFL Windfarmer AG (Zug, Switzerland) which has a 10% interest in it.
The Zajaczkowo Windfarm is located in Zajaczkowo, Gumina, Kobyinica in the Wojewodztwo Zachodniomorskie region of northern Poland. The development of the windfarm included some assistance from consulting firm WindPol Sp. Z. o. o. (Koszalin, Poland). Budimex Dromex AG (Warszawa, Poland), a subsidiary of Siemens AG (NYSE:SI) (Munich, Germany), will be acting as the constructor for the wind turbine/generators. The twenty-four 2 MW wind turbine/generator sets are being provided by Vestas. Construction has commenced at the windfarm and the first units have a projected commercial operation target date of February 2008. The 48 MW windfarm is projected to be fully operational by July 2008.
