Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--OCI Solar Power (San Antonio, Texas) has brought online 216 megawatts (MW) of solar energy to the Texas ERCOT Grid via two solar energy projects. The energy from both projects is enough to power more than 100,000 households per year.
The 110-MW Alamo 6 Solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant, which is located in Pecos County, Texas, and the 106-MW Alamo 7 PV power plant, located in Haskell, Texas, began commercial operations last month.
Upon completion, Alamo 6 was acquired by BHE Renewables (Des Moines, Iowa) and Alamo 7 by Consolidated Edison Development (NYSE:ED) (ConEdison) (New York City, New York).
Construction of the solar farms, which began in June 2015 and took just over a year to complete, was completed by M.A. Mortenson Company (Minnesota, Minnesota). The projects had a combined total investment value of more than $540 million.
