Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Unit 3 at the Dresden Nuclear Generating Station in Illinois started its refueling outage Monday and expects to complete it before the Thanksgiving holiday. Dresden is owned and operated by Exelon Corporation (NYSE:EXE) (Chicago).
This outage will address other maintenance concerns, and it will include inspections and testing. Dresden is currently on a 24-month refueling cycle, with the next scheduled for November 2015 on Unit 2.

Dresden is located in Grundy County, at the head of the Illinois River, near Morris, Illinois. Dresden originally had three operating units, but Unit 1 retired in 1978, leaving units 2 and 3 to serve Chicago and the northern quarter of Illinois. Each of these units are capable of producing 867 megawatts.
