Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). Cooperative owned United Wisconsin Grain Producers LLC (Friesland, Wisconsin) has begun fuel ethanol production as of April 21, 2005, at its brand new $50 million plant in Friesland, Wisconsin.
Construction began in October 2003, and the plant utilized ICM Incorporated (Colwich, Kansas) for design and engineering and Fagen Incorporated (Granite Falls, Minnesota) as the design-build contractor.
The plant will process some 15 million bushels of locally-grown corn into ethanol and will also produce 128,000 tons annually of distiller's grains, as well as capture 102,600 tons of carbon dioxide from the plant's fermentation process.
United Wisconsin became the fifth ethanol plant to start-up in Wisconsin, and with the new plant, the state will have the capability to produce over 160 million gallons of ethanol annually. The plant joins ACE Ethanol, Badger State Ethanol, Utica Energy, and Central Wisconsin Ethanol in the Wisconsin ethanol market.
