Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The Northeast region comprises 11 states, including New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania, and has been slowly recovering from the recent recession with the rest of the U.S. In particular, the region is showing gains in industrial production. The Industrial Manufacturing Industry is contributing to employment gains nationwide as manufacturers gradually increase their spending.

Three states in the Northeast region are showing signs of growth. The bulk of the work appears to be in New York, which has $1.1 billion in planned construction and maintenance projects for the year. Increased activity in the transportation system sector has spurred project spending so far in 2013. With New York being one of the fastest-growing labor markets in the U.S., total spending in this state is expected to increase as the year continues.

Other sectors that are exhibiting slight growth are the plastics and rubber sector, in which the construction of a new plastic pipe plant is being planned, and the heavy manufacturing sector, which is seeing expansions at existing aircraft manufacturing plants.

Other states that are showing growth in the Northeast region are Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Pennsylvania is planning $259 million in new and expanding construction and maintenance projects, while New Jersey is planning $195 million. These states also are showing increased activity in the transportation system and heavy manufacturing sectors.

Overall, the Northeast region of the Industrial Manufacturing Industry is expected to continue on this upward trend of growth through the end of 2013. As existing businesses expand or new businesses arrive, it will continue to exhibit growth potential.
