Whiting Petroleum Emerges from Bankruptcy
- Oil and gas company Whiting Petroleum Corporation (NYSE:WLL) said on Tuesday it had emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy and completed its financial restructuring, shrinking its funded debt by about $3 billion. Whiting had become the first publicly traded shale producer to file for bankruptcy in April. (Reuters)

U.S. Gulf of Mexico Oil Production Down More than 28% in Laura's Wake
- U.S. Gulf of Mexico offshore oil output on Tuesday was down by 525,099 barrels per day (BBL/d), or 28.4% of the region's daily production, the U.S. Department of Interior reported. The regulator said 71 of the U.S. Gulf of Mexico's 643 manned platforms remained evacuated, down from 117 production platforms on Monday. Producers also were resuming natural gas production, which was off by roughly 25%, or 676.55 million cubic feet per day. (Reuters)

Mexico's Crude Oil Production Slips to Record Low in July - Mexico's oil output hit a record low in July at 1.605 million BBL/d, down slightly for both state-run Pemex and upstart private producers and putting the country's oil patch on track for its lowest production since the 1970s. Pemex produced 1.548 million BBL/d in July while private oil companies pumped about 57,000 BBL/d during the month. (Reuters)
