Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--United Cooperative (Beaver Dam, Wisconsin) will be installing an Eisenmann Biogas-TS anaerobic disgester and biogas boiler at the company's United Ethanol LLC fuel ethanol plant in Milton, Wisconsin.

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources recently approved United Ethanol's request for an air permit, and engineers are poring over the final blueprints. Construction on the $6.75 million investment will begin next month and is expected to be completed by the end of this year. The new system will improve the quality of the facility's backset and create biogas, thereby reducing organic content and water balance problems. The generated biogas will be used to help self-power the plant and use less natural gas. This process will increase the plant's energy efficiency.

United Ethanol is on Chicago Street in Milton, approximately seven miles northeast of Janesville, Wisconsin. Since March, 2007 the plant has been churning 16.43 million bushels of corn into 55 million gallons of fuel ethanol and has about 40 employees.

The state of Minnesota currently has 11 operational fuel ethanol plants, producing a total of 520 million gallons annually, while another six are in the planning stages.
