Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--Zhejiang Thermal Power Construction Company (ZTPC) (Hangzhou, Zhejiang) erected the first beam for a boiler steel structure at Unit 3, the first unit of the Chongqing Shuanghuai Power Plant Phase II Expansion, into its final position on February 7, 2012. There are eight main beams designed for the boiler steel structure of the unit. The project is a step toward the commissioning of the unit scheduled for the end of this year.
Chongqing Shuanghuai Power Plant, which is at Shuanghuai Village in Hechuan City, has a total planned capacity of 4,000 megawatts (MW) that are to be built in phases. Both of the two 300-MW, subcritical, coal-fired units built in Phase I were commissioned in 2006. The Phase II expansion plans to build two 660-MW, ultra-supercritical, coal-fired units. The first 660-MW unit received approval from the National Development and Reform Commission in January 2011.
Chongqing Hechuan Power Generation Company Limited (Hechuan, Chongqing), a joint venture of China Power Investment Corporation (Beijing) (51%) and Chongqing Energy Investment Group (49%), is responsible for the construction and operation of the plant. Southwest Electric Power Design Institute (Chengdu, Sichuan), a regional subsidiary of China Power Engineering Consulting Corporation (Beijing), is responsible for the design and engineering of the project.
As reported, the project will be furnished with a highly efficient electrostatic dust remover, as well as flue gas desulfuration and denitration devices. Various economic and technical indicators for the project will be at an advanced level in southwest China.
Construction of the main works for the Phase II expansion project began on April 11, 2011. So far, the project owner is working closely with the parties involved to ensure that the project can be put into operation as scheduled.
