Researched by Industrial Info Resources Latin America (Cordoba, Argentina)--EP Petroecuador Gerencia de Transporte y Almacenamiento (Guayaquil, Ecuador) (Hydrocarbons Public Company) plans to begin operations in June at the 55-kilometer, multi-fuel pipeline, which runs from the city of Ambato to city of Riobamba in Ecuador.
The pipeline, which can transport gasoline, diesel and jet fuel, begins at the Ambato Terminal and flows to Riobamba. The 6-inch-diameter pipeline has the capacity to move of 46,000 barrels per day. The pump station has two Flowserve pumps.
Construction of the pipeline and pump station began in May 2012 and was completed in May 2013. The project has been in the commissioning phase since June 2013. The project has had delays, first because of an insufficient amount of fuel to begin operations, and then because of internal constraints.
Consorcio Offshore InDiGi SA (Quito, Ecuador) has the engineering, procurement and construction contract for the project.
The main aim of pipe project is to help meet growing demand for gasoline, diesel and jet fuel in Riobamba.
