Reports related to this article:
Researched by Industrial Info Resources Australia (Perth, Australia)--Veolia Environmental Services (Australia) Pty Limited (Sydney), a waste management company, plans to increase its capacity by adding units to the Ti-Tree and Woodlawn bioreactor plants. Veolia owns and operates the Woodlawn plant. The Ti-Tree facility is jointly owned with J. J. Richards & Sons Pty Limited (Brisbane, Queensland).
The Woodlawn plant is located at Collector Road in Tarago, New South Wales, and the Ti-Tree plant is located near Champions Way, close to Willowbank, Queensland.
The 3.3-megawatt (MW) Ti-Tree facility uses methane gas from landfills to produce electricity. It has three Series 3516 Caterpillar (NYSE:CAT) (Peoria, Illinois) gas compression reciprocating engines.
Veolia plans to add another Caterpillar engine by the first quarter of 2015. The company plans to increase the plant's capacity to 10 MW over the next 10 to 16 years, adding a unit every 12 to 18 months. Eneraque Pty Limited (Brisbane, Queensland) is managing the installation of the units, along with routine maintenance activities at the plant.
The 5.5-MW Woodlawn Bioreactor accepts 30,000 metric tons of residual waste per year. It recently completed installation of a sixth 1.065-MW GE (NYSE:GE) (Fairfield, Connecticut) Jenbacher spark-ignition reciprocating engine. Clarke Energy Pty Limited (Adelaide, South Australia) installed the engines.
Veolia plans to ultimately increase the capacity of the plant to 25 MW over the next 15 years by installing units every 12 months, or as needed. The next unit is planned for the second quarter of 2015.
