Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). The City of Bowling Green, Ohio, as part of the Ohio Municipal Electric Generation Agency Joint Venture 6 (OMEGA JV6) (a joint venture of eight Ohio communities), is considering installing two additional 1.8-megawatt (MW) wind turbine/generator sets at their existing wind power plant (Plant 1059984) in Wood County, Ohio, doubling the generation capacity from 3.6 MW to 7.2 MW. The original plan was (4-6) wind turbine/generator sets for 6-9 MW (PEC 10002865), so they are now going to reach their goal with a second phase.
The Bowling Green Wind Power Plant's first two units were constructed starting during the third quarter of 2003 and was in operation by the fourth quarter of 2003. The plant is operated by American Municipal Power-Ohio Incorporated (AMP-Ohio), a municipal cooperative in Columbus, Ohio. The second two units, like the first two, will be 1.8 MW Vestas turbine/generators sets, installed by Vestas American Wind Technology (Portland, Oregon), a subsidiary of Vestas Wind Systems A/S (Copenhagen: VWS) (Ringkobing, Denmark). The plan is for the construction to start this summer and be completed in the fall.
