Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--BrightSource Energy Incorporated (Oakland, California) has placed its proposed 500-megawatt (MW) Hidden Hills Solar Power Plant in Tecopa, California, on hold for an unspecified amount of time. BrightSource is trying to get financing together, and construction will not begin in time to meet the federal solar tax credit deadline in 2016.
CH2M Hill (Sacramento, California) was providing consulting services for the project.
BrightSouce Energy and Valley Electric Association (Pahrump, Nevada) also planned to jointly develop and construct a 230-kilovolt (kV) and 500-kV transmission line and interconnection substation to support BrightSource's solar plant. The line was supposed to travel about 60 miles from the solar plant site to a new 500kV/230kV Tap Substation in Tecopa, and onward to the existing Eldorado Substation in McCullough Pass, Nevada, to provide necessary backfeed into the Pahrump system. This project also is on hold, and no decision regarding development has been made at this time.
