Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--Following the erection for the low-pressure (LP) and high-intermediate-pressure (HIP) casing on July 18 and August 31, 2012, respectively, Zhejiang Thermal Power Construction Company (ZTPC) (Hangzhou, Zhejiang), a subsidiary of Chine Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC) (Beijing), completed the erection of the lower baffle plate and rotor in the LP2 casing of the No. 1 conventional island on November 27, 2012. The box-up of the steam turbine for Unit 1 at the Fangjiashan Nuclear Power Plant has now kicked off, according to an announcement from the CEEC on November 30.

As reported, the box-up of the steam turbine will be performed in three stages. Following the box-up of LP2, the box-up of LP1 and the HIP casings will be performed. It's expected that the box-up of Unit 1 will be completed in the first 10 days of December 2012.

The Fangjiashan Nuclear Power Project, also referred as the Qinshan Nuclear Power Plant Expansion Project, is invested by CNNC Qinshan Nuclear Power Company (Haiyan, Zhejiang), a subsidiary of China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) (Beijing), in eastern China's Zhejiang province. The project is furnished with two 1,000-megawatt pressurized reactor nuclear power units, with the adoption of improved second-generation technology.

Construction of the project began on July 17, 2009. Erection of steam turbine for Unit 1 kicked off on October 18, 2011. On July 24, 2012, the generator rotor of Unit 1 was shipped from Dongfang Electric Machinery Company Limited (Deyang, Sichuan) to the site.

According to the project schedule, the units will begin commercial operations in December 2013 and October 2014. Upon completion, the total installed capacity of Qinshan Nuclear Power Base will be 6,300 MW, making it the largest nuclear power base in China.
