Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--China Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC) (Beijing) completed the erection of the first enclosure module for the condenser of Unit 2 in the Fangjiashan Nuclear Power Project on August 19, 2012, according to an announcement from the CEEC on August 21, 2012.

The Fangjiashan Nuclear Power Project, also known as the Qinshan Nuclear Power Plant Expansion Project, is built and operated by CNNC Qinshan Nuclear Power Company (Haiyan, Zhejiang), a subsidiary of China National Nuclear Corporation (Beijing) in East China's Zhejiang province. The project is furnished with two 1,000-megawatt, pressurized reactor nuclear power units, with the adoption of improved second-generation technology. Zhejiang Thermal Power Construction Company (Hangzhou, Zhejiang), a subsidiary of CEEC, is responsible for the construction and erection of the condensers for the project.

As reported, Unit 2 of Fangjiashan Nuclear Power Project has two condensers with four enclosure modules (39 components) and a total weight of about 1,000 metric tons. The first module erected was No. 4, which is 15.4 meters long, 5.2 meters wide and 4.6 meters high.

Construction of the project kicked off on July 17, 2009. On May 27, 2011, the dome for the powerhouse roof of the unit was successfully erected into its final position, and the unit has been shifted from civil construction to equipment erection.

According to the schedule for the project, both units will begin commercial operations in December 2013 and October 2014, respectively. Upon completion, the total installed capacity of Qinshan Nuclear Power Base will be expanded to 6,300 megawatts.
