Researched by Industrialinfo.com ( Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated Houston, Texas). Cheniere Energy Incorporated (AMEX:LNG)(Houston, Texas) has begun construction on the largest LNG terminal in the U.S. to date. This past January, the company broke ground on a 568-acre site, along the Sabine Pass Channel in Cameron Parish, Louisiana.

The Project, which represents an $800 million investment, is expected to be completed by January 2008 and will create 80-100 new jobs. Upon completion, the LNG facility will have a capacity of 2.6 billion cubic feet of gas per day. The terminal will be designed to unload two LNG carriers at a time and will be constructed with two docks. It will also serve as a tolling facility, where companies will sign long-term agreements to give LNG sellers access to the U.S. markets and U.S. natural gas buyers access to its global LNG supplies.

Cheniere will construct a natural gas pipeline that will run sixteen miles from the Sabine Pass LNG terminal to Johnson Bayou, at which point it will interconnect with several interstate pipelines. Cheniere Energy has awarded the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract to Black & Veatch Pritchard Incorporated, headquarted in Houston, Texas.

Cheniere Energy Incorporated (Houston, Texas) is a Houston-based developer of LNG receiving terminals and a Gulf of Mexico E & P Company. The Company currently conducts exploration of oil and gas using approximately 7,000 square miles of Seismic data with an investment of $85,000,000. Cheniere Energy is also in the process of developing two additional Gulf Coast LNG receiving terminals in Louisiana and Corpus Christi, Texas and is a part owner in the Freeport LNG project.
