POWER
EIA: U.S. Power Use to Beat Record Highs in 2026, 2027
- U.S. power consumption, which hit its second straight annual record high in 2025, will rise further in 2026 and 2027, the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) said in its Short-Term Energy Outlook on Tuesday. The EIA projected power demand will rise from a record 4,195 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) in 2025 to 4,244 billion kWh in 2026 and 4,381 billion kWh in 2027.

LNG
Freeport LNG Asks Permission to Delete Obsolete Import Facilities
- Freeport LNG has asked U.S. regulators for permission to demolish facilities in Texas that were previously used to import liquefied natural gas (LNG), according to a regulatory filing. While the U.S. was once a major importer of the fuel, the shale revolution transformed the domestic gas market and turned the country into the world's largest LNG exporter. Freeport has not imported LNG since 2011. Subscribers to Industrial Info's Global Market Intelligence (GMI) Terminals Plant Database can click here for the import facility's plant profile. (Reuters)

- The leaders of the International Energy Agency (IEA), the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank will discuss the energy crisis triggered by the Iran war next Monday, IEA executive director Fatih Birol said on Tuesday.
