Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Industrial Info is currently tracking $664 million in active construction and maintenance projects for chilled water and heating plants in the U.S. and Canada. Of these, 23 projects, with a combined total investment value (TIV) of $467 million, are under construction, and 19 projects totaling $19 million are planned maintenance shutdowns. The remainder of the projects are in the planning and engineering stages.
New building construction and changing emissions standards are driving the increased number of projects in this sector of the Industrial Manufacturing Industry. Universities and companies are upgrading boilers and chillers by building systems that maintain comfortable temperatures, light levels and indoor air quality, while operating with increased energy efficiency and reduced carbon-based emissions.

Construction on the plant is scheduled to begin in late summer or early fall of next year. The facility will provide approximately 15,000 tons of chilled water to existing and future buildings on the campus. RMF Engineering and KORDA Engineering, both located in Columbus, are providing design services for the new plant. Ruscilli Construction Company Incorporated (Columbus) will provide general construction services.
OSU is presently under way with construction on a $60 million water chiller and backup power project at the university's medical center in Columbus. Completion of the new facility is expected by the fall of next year.
