China Guodian's First 1,000-Megawatt Ultra-Supercritical Coal-fired Unit Passes Trial Operation

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--China's first 1,000-megawatt (MW) ultra-supercritical coal-fired unit, a part of the Guodian Taizhou power plant's Phase I project, passed its 168-hour trial in early December and was ready to go into official operation in eastern China's Jiangsu Province. As the first project for 1,000-MW units by the province and China Guodian Corporation, it has received a lot of attention from the local government.

The power plant has a total planned capacity of four 1,000-MW coal-fired units to be built in phases.

Construction of Phase I began in December 2006. During Unit 1's trial operation, its average load rate reached 99.78%. Major instruments, protection devices and automatic control, as well as the desulfurization devices are operating at 100%.
