Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--Following the ignition of the first boiler (Unit 5) at Xinjiang Huadian Kashi Power Generation Company Limited's (Kashi, Xinjiang) Phase III expansion at the Kashi Power Plant on December 2, 2013, Anhui Electric Power Construction No.1 Engineering Company (AEPC1) (Hefei, Anhui), a subsidiary of China Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC) (Beijing), completed the flushing of pipelines on December 5, according to an announcement from the CEEC on the same day.
The flushing of the pipelines kicked off on December 2. In a single boiler shutdown, the pipeline was flushed 66 times. Upon inspection, various indicators, such as the size of spot on the target board, met the specifications. The unit adopted ion ignition technology.
The Kashi Power Plant Phase III expansion project, which is furnished with two 350-megawatt (MW), supercritical cogeneration units, is one of the key power source construction projects in Xinjiang. It also is the first 350-MW, supercritical cogeneration unit built in Xinjiang.
The main turbine, generator and boiler equipment for the project was supplied by Harbin Boiler Company Limited (Harbin, Heilongjiang) and Shanghai Electric Corporation Company Limited (Shanghai). Northeast Electric Power Design Institute (Changchun, Jilin), a regional subsidiary of China Power Engineering Consulting Corporation (Beijing), is responsible for the design and engineering of the project.
In January 2011, the environmental impact assessment report for the project received approval. Site preparation kicked off June 2011.
In September 2011, the project received final approval from the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC). Erection of the boiler steel frame for the unit kicked off in September 2012. According to the schedule, both units of the project will begin operations in the first quarter of 2014. Upon completion, the project will be able to supply 3.5 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity to the grid and provide heating service an 11.4 million-square-meter area, which will boost economic development in Kashi City and the entire southern Xinjiang region.
