Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--The first unit (Unit 5) of Xinjiang Huadian Kashi Power Generation Company Limited's (Kashi, Xinjiang) Kashi Power Plant Phase III expansion project was connected to the grid and began to generate electricity on January 6, 2014, according to the project construction contractor.
The unit boiler was activated on December 2, 2013, according to Anhui Electric Power Construction No.1 Engineering Company (AEPC1) (Hefei, Anhui), the construction and erection contractor for the project. AEPC1 is a subsidiary of China Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC) (Beijing).
AEPC1 has achieved a series of project milestones since October 2013, including the energizing of plant service power supply, boiler cleaning, rotating tests, pipe flushing and the first steam turbine startup. Presently, AEPC1 is preparing for the final, 168-hour, continuous full-load trial operation prior to commercial operations.
The Kashi Power Plant Phase III expansion project, which has two 350-megawatt (MW), supercritical cogeneration units, is one of the key power source construction projects in Xinjiang. The main turbines, generators and boilers were supplied by Harbin Boiler Company Limited (Harbin, Heilongjiang) and Shanghai Electric Corporation Company Limited (Shanghai). Northeast Electric Power Design Institute (Changchun, Jilin), a regional subsidiary of China Power Engineering Consulting Corporation (Beijing), is responsible for the design and engineering of the project.
The project received final approval from the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) in September 2011. Erection of the boiler steel frame for the unit kicked off in September 2012. Mechanical erection of Unit 6 is close to completion. According to the schedule, both units of the project will begin commercial operations in the first half of 2014.
