Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Old Dominion Electric Cooperative (Glen Allen, Virginia) plans to start construction for the $675 million, 1,000-megawatt (MW) Wildcat Point combined-cycle plant in Maryland spring of 2015.
Completion of the project is expected by 2017.
The natural gas-fired facility is to be built on the same property as the 688-MW Rock Springs Generating Station (Rising Sun, Maryland), in which Old Dominion Electric and Essential Power LLC (Iselin, New Jersey) each own 50%.
The Wildcat Plant is to have a two-on-one combined-cycle configuration, with two gas turbines, two heat-recovery steam generators (HRSGs) and one steam turbine. A contract has been signed with Mitsubishi to provide the gas turbines. The request for proposal (RFP) has been released for an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor. The chosen contractor will then choose the HRSG and steam turbine.
