Electrolux to Construct New Manufacturing Center in Memphis

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Electrolux Home Products (Martinez, Georgia), the North American arm of Swedish appliance manufacturer AB Electrolux (PINK:ELUXY) (Stockholm), announced that it has selected Memphis, Tennessee, as the location of the company's new North American Cooking Products manufacturing center.

Construction of the 700,000-square-foot facility has an estimated total investment value of more than $190 million. The project is scheduled to kick off in the third quarter of this year and be complete in the third quarter of 2012. The facility will employ more than 1,200 people when fully operational. The new facility will assume the manufacturing currently located in L'Assomption, Quebec, the closure of which Electrolux announced on December 14, 2010.

The plant will build the company's Electrolux, Electrolux ICON and Frigidaire kitchen products. Electrolux is in the process of selecting a design firm. Design work should be completed by May. Electrolux will select a general contractor in June to start construction in July 2011. The facility will be located in the Frank C. Pidgeon Industrial Park in Memphis.
