Embraer Aircraft Begins Construction on $51 Million Jet Assembly Plant in Florida

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Brazilian aircraft-maker Embraer Aircraft Holdings Corporation (Fort Lauderdale, Florida) has started site preparation for a $51 million grassroot jet assembly plant to be constructed in Melbourne, Florida. This will be the company's first U.S. assembly facility to supply the Phenom 100 and 300 Executive Jets.

Plans are to construct a 107,130-square-foot building on 15 acres that will include an 80,124-square-foot production building, a 9,195-square-foot administration building, and a 17,812-square-foot paint booth. The facility will include the installation of production equipment and will house a final assembly line that will enable the company to assemble Phenom 100 and 300 Executive Jet models. Site preparation kicked off in August of this year. Building construction is anticipated to begin in another month, with overall completion slated for May 2010. When the new facility becomes fully operational, up to eight Phenom business jets will be produced every month. Approximately 200 jobs will be created by 2011.

BRPH (Melbourne, Florida) was selected to provide architectural services and Walbridge Aldinger (Detroit, Michigan) was selected to provide general construction services for the new assembly plant.
