Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--Guangxi Investment Group Company Limited's (Nanning, Guangxi) Liuzhou Luzhai Cogeneration Power Project, the first cogeneration power project in the Guangxi autonomous region, received approval from the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) on March 26, 2013, according to an announcement from the Development and Reform Commission of the Guangxi autonomous region on March 27.
As reported, the project will be a cyclic economic demonstrative project integrated with power generation, heat supply and the comprehensive utilization of resources, with a total investment of about $500 million. The project has a total planned capacity of four 350-megawatt (MW) units to be built in two phases. Two 350-MW, supercritical, coal-fired, combined heat and power units, together with associated environmental protection facilities, such as high-efficiency electrostatic dust removing, flue gas desulfurization and denitration devices and a "zero emission" sewage processing plant and associated heat supply pipeline works, will be built in the initial stage. Guangxi Fangyuan Electric Power Company Limited (Nanning, Guangxi), a subsidiary of Guangxi Investment Group, is serving as the project developer and future operator for the project.
As reported, Guangxi Investment Group kicked off pre-stage preparation for the project in early 2009. The main equipment for Phase I of the project had been awarded to Harbin Electric Corporation (Harbin, Heilongjiang) in 2010. Site preparation for the project was awarded to China Gezhouba Construction Corporation (Yichang, Hubei) in October 2011 and has been completed. The main construction contracts for units 1 and 2 have been awarded to Northeast Electric Power Construction No. 2 Engineering Company and Guangxi Electric Power Engineering Construction Company, respectively.
According to the schedule, construction for the main works is expected to kick off in the second half of 2013, and the total construction period of the project will be two years. Upon completion, the project will be able to generate about 3.5 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity and supply heat and steam to users in Luzhai Economic Development Zone, Liuzhou Motor City and nearby regions.
