FlexSol Expands Plastic Film Operations in North Carolina

Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). FlexSol Packaging Incorporated (Pompano Beach, Florida) is expanding its operations in Statesville, North Carolina, by adding 22,800 square feet of manufacturing space to the existing 25,000 square foot plant. The expansion will provide room for a new manufacturing line for its plastic film packaging. FlexSol has already moved some of the necessary equipment from another plant in Marshville, North Carolina. The expansion will add another 24 jobs.

The company is pursuing permitting at this time, according to a company spokesman, and expects to begin concrete work for the expansion in January 2004, weather permitting. Actual construction of the metal building is scheduled to begin in February and be completed by the end of March. Production is expected to begin in mid-2004. The company plans to expand its warehousing space in Statesville again in the next few years with another building.

FlexSol took over the Statesville plant when it acquired Eclipse Packaging in May of this year. Eclipse Packaging is a manufacturer of co-extruded multi-layer films (called co-ex) used largely in the food and beverage industry, and also for industrial applications.

FlexSol Packaging expects this expansion, along with production from its other operations, to increase its annual production of co-extruded multi-layer films to 70 million tons. Other FlexSol manufacturing plants are located in Chicago, Illinois, Newark, New Jersey (Delta Plastics), Nashville, Tennessee, and Pompano, Florida (Essex Plastics).
