Green Earth Fuels Nearing Completion on First Phase of Biodiesel Plant Construction in Houston Ship Channel

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas). Privately held Green Earth Fuels LLC (Houston, Texas) and subsidiary Green Earth Fuels of Houston LLC (Galena Park, Texas) are nearing construction completion on the first phase of a new biodiesel plant that will be located on the Houston Ship Channel in Galena Park, Texas. Construction on the first 43 million gallon per year biodiesel process train is expected to be completed by the end of June and the second 43 million gallon train’s foundation is currently going in along with some tankage.

Plans are to have the second train producing batches of biodiesel by mid to late September. Once both trains are running at full capacity, Green Earth’s Galena Park plant will have the capacity of producing 86 million gallons per year of biodiesel.

The plant is strategically located within Kinder Morgan’s (NYSE:KMI) liquids terminal on Clinton Drive and is also expanding storage capacity by some 75,000 barrels to handle the additional feedstock soybean oil and biodiesel finished product.

Construction on the $85 million-plus project started around June of last year under the direction of turn-key E+P+C contractor Gemma Power Systems (Glastonbury, Connecticut).

Green Earth Fuels is also developing two additional biodiesel sites in Louisiana and the New Jersey side of New York harbor.

Headquartered in Houston, Texas, Green Earth Fuels, LLC is focused on the development of petroleum-friendly biodiesel infrastructure that provides the requisite scale, product quality and streamlined logistics necessary to reliably supply leading energy industry participants. Green Earth Fuels biodiesel facilities will be embedded within the existing petroleum complex and will employ the rigorous quality standards and processes necessary to conform to both ASTM-D6751 and BQ9000 biodiesel specifications.
