Haru Oni Project Kicks Off New Wave of Investment in Synthetic Biofuels in Latin America

Project partners AME - Andes Mining & Energy SA, Siemens Energy, Enel and Porsche have commenced structural erection on a synthetic biofuels pilot plant in Punta Arenas, Chile, as part of a combined $500 million investment.

Upon completion in 2022, the AME-owned facility will be capable of producing 3.9 tons per day of crude methanol which will be converted into 2.5 tons per day synthetic methanol and 130,000 liters per year synthetic biofuel (methanol to gasoline). The company intends to have a fully operational 550 million-liter-per-year production facility by 2026.
