Harvest Biofuels Plans To Construct Three Iowa Ethanol Plants

Privately held Harvest Biofuels LLC (Addison, Texas), a subsidiary of Kensington Industry & Investment (Dallas, Texas), is planning to build three fuel ethanol plants in the Midwest state of Iowa. Some pre-construction activity and dirt work started at the first location in Galbraith earlier this spring. The second project is scheduled to start construction later this month near Garner and a third location in Gilmore City is expected to get underway later this summer.

Each of the three plants will have a nameplate production capacity of 100 million gallons per year and require over 115 million bushels of corn annually to produce the fuel. The company has secured Vogelbusch USA (Houston, Texas) to provide the licensed ethanol processing technology and Fru-Con Construction Corporation (Ballwin, Missouri) is designing the facilities. The company also selected Austin International (Houston, Texas) to build the plants.

Construction is expected to take 12-14 months to build with the Galbraith plant, which is scheduled to go online first, followed by the Garner project, then the Gilmore City project.

All three plants represent a capital investment of over $450 million.
