Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Inc.; Houston, Texas). A gold resource of 1.04 million ounces suitable for low-cost open pit mining has been identified by Toronto based High River Gold Mines at its Taparko project in the West African country of Burkina Faso. The cut off viability of the resource as estimated has been set at 1.0 gram of gold per ton of ore mined.
High River has signed an agreement with Saint Lambert Drilling for a 900 meters program of deep drilling at Taparko to test the depth of the ore body in the zone, which contains 65% of the identified resource. The deep drilling will assist in determining whether project can take advantage of an open pit project with a higher price yield or an underground operation, which would follow an initial phase of open pit mining to the 100-meter level.
