Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Cooperative-owned Highwater Ethanol LLC (Lamberton, Minnesota) is in the early stages of developing a new water pipeline to support additional capacity at the existing 50 million-gallon-per-year, corn-based fuel ethanol plant.
The water will come from a rock quarry. The project will include 16 miles of 10-inch diameter pipe, a lift station and a metering station, along with a lined storage pond and substation.
Work on the estimated $2.2 million project is expected to be completed by November 2015.
Highwater also has completed Phase I of its ethanol plant retrofit, which includes installation of Butamax's (Wilmington, Delaware) corn-oil separation technology. Phase II, which is slated for completion by the end of 2015, includes installation of fermentation and distillation equipment to produce 40,000 gallons per year of bio-based isobutanol.
The company picked Fagen Incorporated (Granite Falls, Minnesota), which has experience in building ethanol plants, as the engineering, procurement and construction contractor.
