Independence Tube Mill Nears Construction Completion in Alabama

Independence Tube Corporation (Chicago, Illinois) is nearing construction completion for a new $30.6 million steel tube manufacturing mill in Decatur, Alabama. The mill is being constructed on the south bank of the Tennessee River in the Mallard Fox Creek Industrial Park in Morgan County. Construction has been all but completed on the new 300,000 square foot tube mill, with installation of new equipment well underway. The structural steel tube manufacturing mill will produce 2 ½-inch to 10-inch squares with 1/8-inch to 5/8-inch walls.

Full production at this new facility is expected to commence early in 2006. The plant expects to have 50-60 full time employees on the job by early next year.

Independence Tube Corporation, founded in 1972 in Chicago, Illinois, currently has two plants in the state of Illinois, a 210,000 square foot building in Chicago, which started out as a 53,000 square foot facility, and another approximately 75 miles southwest of Chicago, in Marseilles, Illinois, with 425,000 square feet, which was completed in 1996.
