Indiana Bio-Energy Targets Late August as First Grind Date for New Ethanol Plant

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Investor-owned ethanol start-up Indiana Bio-Energy LLC (Bluffton, Indiana) is wrapping up construction activities, testing equipment and performing commissioning tests, targeting August 28 as the start-up date of a new ethanol plant in Bluffton.

Construction on the 100 million-gallon-per-year plant started in November 2006, utilizing the design-build team of ICM Incorporated (Colwich, Kansas) and Fagen Incorporated (Granite Falls, Minnesota). All of the equipment is set with only minor finishing work remaining on some of the tankage. The grain-handling systems and all of the process vessels have been completed, and only minor wiring and process piping installations remain.

The estimated $150 million plant will process more than 38 million bushels per year of Indiana corn and also produce distillers dried grains, a byproduct of ethanol production. Aventine Renewable Energy Holdings Incorporated (NYSE:AVR) (Pekin, Illinois) will market the plant's ethanol, and CHS Incorporated (NASDAQ:CHSCP) (Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota) will market the distillers grains.

The plant is located on a 400-acre site at 1469 South Adams Street in Bluffton about 20 miles south of Fort Wayne in Wells county.

Indiana Bio-Energy will become the ninth fuel ethanol plant running in the state after the plant goes online.
