Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Let it be known, Arkansas is an industrial powerhouse. Industrial firms are developing more than 150 capital and maintenance projects that total $6.3 billion within the state. The Power Industry is the largest industry for project development, accounting for 74% of the value of active industrial projects in Arkansas.

There are 29 projects totaling $4.7 billion in the Power Industry. For example American Electric Power Company (NYSE:AEP) (Columbus, Ohio) is studying a $200 million emission control system addition at the Flint Creek Power Station in Gentry, Arkansas. The company plans to add flue gas desulfurization system and an activated carbon injection system to reduce sulfur and mercury emissions on 558-megawatt unit #1. Construction on the project could begin in 2013 if approvals are attained.
