Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Industrial Info has identified 16 plants under construction that are expected to be completed by March 2008. This number is slightly lower than the first quarter of last year when 21 plants were expected to come online.
Despite companies in West Virginia and South Carolina spending the most, North Carolina will create the most jobs. Of the total 1,510 jobs to be created throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, 778 are expected to be in North Carolina. This can be attributed to the fact that most of them will be in the Industrial Manufacturing sector, which tends to employ more people than other industries. The number of plants is spread rather evenly in West Virginia, South Carolina and North Carolina; each state will open five plants. Only one plant will open in Virginia, a compressor station, so job creation will not be significant. Maryland does not have any plants scheduled to open this quarter.
