New Boxboard Plant Planned for Northeast Texas

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--ABOX Packaging Company (Kaufman, Texas) has its sights set on building a $15 million box and carton manufacturing plant in Kaufman, 30 miles southeast of Dallas. ABOX plans to build a 250,000-square-foot building that will include new equipment to transform sheets of containerboard into various cartons and packaging material in addition to equipment relocated from the company's current facility. ABOX is pursuing the purchase of a 20-acre site on Rand Road.

The company anticipates finalizing plans near the end of 2009 and selecting an architectural firm shortly thereafter. Construction could begin in spring 2010, and the plant could be fully operational by early 2011.

In addition to the Kaufman plant, ABOX's operations in Texas include sales and distribution facilities in San Antonio and Houston.
