Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). Oldcastle Building Systems (Towson, Maryland), a division of Oldcastle Precast Group (Albany, Washington), is building a new state-of-the-art precast concrete products manufacturing plant in Edgewood, Maryland. When completed in the spring of 2003, the plant will replace two antiquated plants located in Odenton and Curtis Bay. The Odenton and Curtis Bay plants will be closed shortly after the start-up of the new plant in 2003. Ground breaking on the project happened recently and site grading is currently underway.
Steel Building Specialists Incorporated (Baltimore, Maryland) was selected as the turn-key building general contractor and will construct the 110,000 square foot plant on a 100 acre site along Trimble Road in Edgewood, Maryland. Project management for the new plant is being handled out of Oldcastle's office in Towson, Maryland, formerly known as Strescon Industries. Oldcastle acquired Strescon two years ago.
The new plant will cost nearly $13 million to construct. 3,500 yards of concrete foundations will be poured for the plant's equipment, which includes a turn-key Stanley concrete batch plant, an overhead gantry crane, 500' sections of conveyor/material handling systems, a traveling bucket system, extruders, and a vapor generator curing system.
Oldcastle Precast Group is a subsidiary of CRH plc (LSE:CRH)(Dublin, Ireland).
