Over $1.5 Billion in Biofuel Construction Starts Expected in First Quarter of 2007
Ethanol plants moving forward in the New Year combine for over $1.2 billion of the projected spending and will add over 768 million gallons of annual capacity when operational in mid-2008.

According to data extracted from Industrial Infos PECWeb project tracking database, over $1.5 billion worth of capital dollars will start construction in the Alternative Fuels Industry during the first quarter of 2007. Seventeen projects are preparing to begin construction early next year, seven biodiesel plants and ten fuel ethanol plants.
In Illinois, Fulton Ethanol is hoping to get underway with its 108 million-gallon per year proposed plant that will be located in Fulton. Plans are also coming together on Algonquian Ethanols Princeton plant site. Plans here call for the creation of a 50 million-gallon per year ethanol plant.
In Indiana, NuFuels, LLC is looking at an early New Year construction start on a 50 million-gallon per year ethanol plant in Huntington. This plant will include the ethanol plant and a 30 million-gallon per year biodiesel plant.
In Missouri, Ethanex, Incorporated, in association with SEMO Milling, is awaiting final permit approval on a 100 million-gallon ethanol plant that will be located in Scott City. Also in Missouri, Show Me Ethanol plans to break ground in January on a 50 million-gallon per year plant in Carrollton.
In Nebraska, Central Bio Energy has secured a general contractor to start construction in January on a 100 million-gallon per year ethanol plant that will be located in Saint Paul, Nebraska.
South Dakota will continue growing its ethanol capacity presence with plans by Glacial Lakes Energy to start construction on a 60 million-gallon per year plant in Vermillion. The company has already hired a general contractor and site work began back in October.
In Texas, Borger Biofuels may start construction early next year. Plans here call for the creation of a 100 million-gallon per year plant that will be located in Borger.
Biodiesel startups are expected to spend over $275 million in capital early next year through seven planned construction starts. Millennium Company (Livingston, Alabama) is planning to build a two-phase plant in Epes, Alabama that will include a 30 million-gallon per year biodiesel plant and a 50 million-gallon per year ethanol plant. Green Way Bio Energy (Stuttgart, Arkansas) has selected a design-build firm for a 10 million-gallon per year biodiesel plant that will be located within the Little Rock Port Authority complex. Also in Arkansas, Delta American Fuels plans to begin construction on a 40 million-gallon per year biodiesel plant in Helena. This project also includes a soybean crushing unit to produce virgin oil feedstock for the operation.
Other biodiesel projects expected to get underway early next year include Tri-City Energys (Keokuk, Iowa) 27 million-gallon per year plant that will be located in Keokuk, Iowa; Beatrice Biodiesels 50 million-gallon per year plant that will be located in Beatrice, Nebraska; The American Biodiesels 30 million-gallon per year plant in Toledo, Ohio and Wi Biofuels (Apache Junction, Arizona) 15 million-gallon per year plant that will be located in Clarkston, Washington.
