Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). Privately held waste management and ethanol producer, Parallel Products (Louisville, Kentucky), a division of ERP Environmental Services Incorporated (Houston, Texas), is planning to expand their resource recovery and ethanol plant in Louisville. (Plant 1047650) Grading and site preparation activities are underway at the plant located at 1620 Bernheim Lane under the direction of general contractor A.L. Post Construction (Louisville, Kentucky) and the single story 10,000 square foot metal building should begin going up sometime late November of this year. The new building will act as a destruction area to smash cans and containers to recover liquids for ethanol production. The shredder recovers liquids from spent, outdated or defectively packaged soft drinks, beer and other liquids that can be converted into fuel ethanol. The company's isolation, collection, and concentration (ICC) technology takes waste streams from bottling operations and are collected from sumps installed at strategic points in the processing facility. Continuous brix monitoring directs materials two brix and higher to special collection tanks for further processing. The liquid is then transported back to the plant for further processing into ethanol. The $2 million expansion will not increase the company's 60,000 gallon per day ethanol production volume, but will increase the plant's efficiency through less labor costs and feed stock handling. Completion of the project is expected by February of 2004. Parallel Products has waste recovery facilities in Louisville, Kentucky; Rancho Cucamonga, California and Bartow, Florida and produces 12 million gallons per year of ethanol from the three plants. In July of this year, Parallel Products was acquired by ERP Environmental from U.S. Liquids Incorporated.
