A major maintenance program is being carried out on both units, and a completion date for the repair work has not yet been announced.

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Unit 5 and 6 of Edegel's Santa Rosa thermal plant in Peru have been dismantled and flown to a Pratt & Whitney repair shop in East Hartford in Hartford County, Connecticut. The units, equipped with a twin pack of Aero derivative turbines, went offline in December 2007 in response to Pratt & Whitney parameters. The 50-megawatt units are simple-cycle combustion turbines fueled by diesel.
A major maintenance program is being carried out on both units, and a completion date for the repair work has not yet been announced. According to Edegel representatives, the company rented a similar Pratt & Whitney turbine to replace Unit's 6 turbine.
The Santa Rosa plant, about 28 kilometers from Lima, has been in production since 1982. The plant produces 225 MW. Four of the plant's seven units have been closed, and their generators have been decommissioned. Unit 7, which is equipped with a 125-MW Westinghouse W501-D5A heavy industry turbine, is scheduled to go offline on February 7, 2008 for a major maintenance that will last five weeks.
Pratt & Whitney Power Systems, a United Technologies Corporation company (NYSE:UTX), is gradually gaining presence in Latin America. For instance, Argentinean generating company Generacion Mediterranea S.A. has recently purchased two natural gas turbines from the United Technologies to be installed at the Modesto Maranzana thermal plant.
