Reliant Resources Incorporated (NYSE: RRI) (Houston, Texas) has had a Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) unit installed at the Cheswick Power Station in Springdale, Pennsylvania by Babcock & Wilcox Incorporated (Barberton, Ohio) a totally owned subsidiary of McDermott International Incorporated (NYSE: MDR) (New Orleans, Louisiana). The SCR is being installed to reduce NOx emissions.
The SCR is in place and ready to be tied-in on the base-load 1970 vintage bituminous coal tangential-fired dry bottom ABB/CE (Alstom Brown Bavari/Combustion Engineering) boiler (4,000,000 lb/hr, 2,500psig @ 1050F). Reliant plans to conduct the unit tie-in and normal maintenance on both the boiler and the 570 megawatt (MW) General Electric (GE) condensing tandem-compound steam turbine/generator set from March 20, 2003 thru April 12, 2003.

Reliant Resources one of three companies spun off from Reliant Energy is a non-regulated provider of electricity with over 18,000 MW to supply wholesale and retail customers in the U.S. and Western Europe. The other companies are CenterPoint, which is the regulated company that handles transmission & distribution, and TexasGen Company, which provides the regulated power generation in Texas.
